The series revolves around the life of Tara and Karan. They are the best of friends and jointly run a wedding planning company by the name of Made In Heaven in Delhi. Throughout the series, they get many people married all from different age groups and all having different yet relatable stories surrounding them. In the process of getting people married in big fat Indian weddings, Karan (Arjun Mathur) and Tara (Sobhita Dhulipala) deal with many of their own problems and try to come out of them.
The series is divided into 9 episodes, all of which deal with issues that we come across on the institution of marriage. The themes of each of the episode is very striking. We get to see the glimpse of high class weddings and what serious problems each of it go through and how Tara and Karan make everything possible. The audience gets to see the contrast through the marriage of a Prince in Rajasthan and of a peon’s daughter. Tara and Karan are seen breaking stereotypes by getting an old couple married. Orthodox side of an Indian family can also be seen where an NRI return banker is forced to get married to a tree before her actual wedding.
Tara and Karan, though both of them are facing trouble in their lives, they make sure to make their clients happy. We slowly undertand their backstories through smart, taut flashbacks, rendering them complex and compelling.
Made In Heaven is a wedding planning company but their lives are a mess in themselves. Tara who comes from a poor family, has married Adil Khanna, a rich businessman, by trick. After opening a company of her own and having a good lifestyle, she comes to know that her husband is cheating on her with her best friend. Even after getting to know all this she tries to move on but by the end she is unhappy and frustrated in her life and decides to end her marriage.
Karan has been very open about being Gay throughout the series. His sexual activities were recorded by his landlord and is arrested for the same. But he takes his stand very strongly all through. He is seen getting physical with various men but in the end is still in love with his school sweetheart Nawab. His father supports him through his thick.
Is it worth a shot?
This series is definitely worth all your time. We would personally call it a must watch. The creators have done an amazing job in bringing various issues going on in our daily lives and even around us which we hardly notice. The chemistry of the characters is quite strong, they make us feel a part of their story. Made in Heaven is successful in making all their matches married. There are a few flaws here and there but the strong storyline and the loose knitted plot make it all worthwhile.
